17 courageous Congressmen voted against all bailouts

Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) recently wrote one of his constituents a response letter that included the names of 17 courageous members of Congress who voted against all of the bailout proposals in 2008 and 2009.

According to Forbes, “I will continue to urge my colleagues to stop the practice of quickly passing bailout bills and instead embark on a serious and earnest debate on how we can best address the economic challenges facing our country. As a conservative member of Congress, my goal is always to ensure the taxpayer gets the absolute most for each tax dollar, and I will continue to do everything I can to eliminate wasteful spending.”

The following a list of members that have continued to oppose the bailouts and a list of final votes that have been taken on bailouts:

    Are you sure about David Price? I think you may be confusing him with Tom Price, a Republican from Georgia. David Price (NC-4) is in the “Yea” side of all of those vote results, while Tom Price (GA-6) is in the “Nay” side.

    For context, David Price is a pretty liberal guy. B. J. Lawson ran against him unsuccessfully this past November.

    Thank you for Identifying the the band of “NO” congress men/women. This way I can send money to who ever runs againt these extreamist in 2010. These 17 are so cultured in ultra conservatism they are only protecting an Ideology and obviously do not care if america comes out of this financial crisis that came to be during the Republican Conservative reign. If the Conservative way is so good, why does it cause such Harm?

    Thank you so much for this information. I will be writing to each of these 17 principled congressmen and encourage them to continue standing firm. I believe people are finally waking up and will vote in more congressmen like them in 2010.

    How ludicrous for anyone to equate loyalty to the Constitution with extremism! As to those still persuaded that conservatism or free market principles brought about this crisis, I beg you to read Meltdown, by Tom Woods. It is easy to understand and will dispel such distorted myths.

    I thank our God and Saviour Jesus Christ for these men of righteousness. And to Stephen Starr, if you identify these men as extremists, for voting rationally and with intentionally informed decisions, simply because you disagree with Republicans, you are missing the boat entirely. Our Freedom is at stake here, these men are due the title of “Uncommon Heroes.” Now let all of us who love Liberty applaud them, encourage them and share their names in the streets, from the rooftops, and in the pulpits, we are not alone in this battle. And let us pray as never before that God will give us favor evn with our opponents that we may win for all what should belong to all! Freedom!

    The bail out made the Banks richer, and gave the an excuse to stick it to the middle and low class citizens with higher payments and higher intrest rates along with a yearly fee.
    We need to put caps on fuel,bank rates and all necessary products that we must have.

    Your fonts are large and friendly, but they all overlap. Try it in Firefox. And while you’re at it, try out OpenOffice instead of MS Office. Later, when the fun of viruses have bled-off, you can then switch to Linux and live a better life! :)

    The manipulation of industry and finances which these bailouts continue to represent is what is responsible for the country’s economic condition. Bush was a supporter of bailouts, so if he was the problem, then it’s good that these Congressmen disagree with him.

    Clearly, true conservatism isn’t the culprit if only 17 members of Congress believe in it. That philosophy clearly has not prevailed in decades.
