Meet the Arizona RLC Chair, Roy Miller:

Roy Miller has been active in libertarian circles since the late 60’s when he was “awakened” by the Ayn Rand novels. He became active in Young Republican politics in the 70’s, running for chairman of the Phoenix club as a “libertarian conservative.” He was subsequently state chairman and national platform chairman. Mr. Miller was also active in the Arizona Republican Party, serving as precinct committeeman, platform and resolutions chairman, fundraiser, and a variety of other roles. He was a co-founder of the Goldwater Institute and served as its Executive Director and Executive Committee member. He also was a founder of the Arizona Economic Forum and a libertarian oriented discussion group that has met monthly for over 26 years.
Mr. Miller holds a B.S. degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University. He served as an active duty Air Force pilot for six years and a member of the Air Force Reserve for 25 years, retiring at the rank of colonel. Roy manages his own financial services consulting organization and has been responsible for business development for Wells Fargo Bank’s Institutional Trust Group, has managed a mining industry trade association and served as assistant to the chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission. In this position he initiated a series of Commission policy papers that ultimately resulted in the deregulation of intrastate transportation in Arizona.
Mr. Miller has been a member of the Republican Liberty Caucus since its inception. He is proud to call himself an extremist and, in the tradition of Senator Barry Goldwater, still believes that “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.” He resides in Phoenix.
