I noticed a lot of anger, but it was the controlled, get something done sort, not the kind that leads to violence.

Wish I'd been able to go to the evening Austin rally, but I had kids to deal with. If there were really 5000 people there that makes it one of the largest in the nation.

And BTW, if you want to see what the media is REALLY thinking about the tea parties, read this article from the <a href="http://www.vancouversun.com/News/Turnout+tepid+modern+parties/1500117/story.html" rel="nofollow">Vancouver Sun</a>.

We actually went to the Alamo "tea party". It was a wonderfully diverse crowd. Beck was "all Beck", direct and on target.
Very glad that Austin had a good turnout. Would have loved to have been at both, but not possible.
We too were amazed at the lack of coverage on most of the news outlets. CNN had some but protrayed the crowds as "angry". Not true, we are concerned, worried, fearful and disgusted, but anger is counter-productive.

Your last sentence was genius.

I went to the main Austin Tea Party (late afternoon) that walked from the Capitol to the Lake. 5,000+ folks attended. While marching, the crowd spanned from the lake up to the hill! Very impressive. Crates of tea were thrown in the lake and picked up by wild Indians in canoes, albeit after much of the crowd had dissipated.

News 8 Austin is on now--top story? Zilker trees must be cut down. FIVE minute story. Seriously? Not the thousands of people marching through downtown at rush hour? (In a 30-second story, News 8 just said "hundreds".)

Rumor has it that KLBJ also claimed "hundreds" attended the Austin Tea Party. Ignorant journalism.
