In an event co-sponsored by the Samford University Republicans and the Republican Liberty Caucus of Alabama, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson will be speaking at Samford University on Wednesday, November 17. The university is located in Homewood, a suburb of Birmingham. Learn more about the event.

Additionally, Governor Johnson will address the Republican Liberty Caucus of Central East Florida (Melbourne/Brevard) at a location to be determined on Friday, November 19 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. You can RSVP to the event on Facebook.

A successful small businessman, triathlete, marathon runner and mountain climber, Governor Johnson is a Tea Party favorite and a likely 2012 Republican presidential candidate. He currently serves as the Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative. He is also an Advisory Board member of the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Please join liberty advocates in Alabama and Florida at these events. Please also consider making a monthly pledge to the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Republican Liberty Caucus members in Missouri have been engaged in campaign season throughout 2010. Several of it’s endorsed candidates won election on Tuesday, including former House Majority Whip Brian Nieves, who was elected to the State Senate’s District 26. RLC-endorsed candidate Paul Curtman won election to the Missouri legislature against an SEIU-supported attorney and incumbent.

RLC-endorsed legislator Rep. Tim Jones was instrumental in leading the Missouri House Republican Campaign Committee, which helped elect candidates to the House. RLC-endorsed incumbent legislator Rep. Shane Schoeller was elected to serve as Speaker Pro Tem of the House and Rep. Tim Jones will serve as House Majority Floor Leader.

To celebrate these legislative successes and organize for the future, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Missouri is hosting its 2010 Convention on Saturday, November 13 from 1 to 4pm at the Mid-Town Carnegie Library (397 E. Central, Springfield) upstairs conference room (click here for directions).

This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in an organization promoting liberty and principled policies in the Republican Party. For additional details on the Convention, contact Tom.

Former Governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson is coming to Houston and Dallas!

As Governor of New Mexico, Johnson was known for his common-sense business approach to governing. He eliminated New Mexico’s budget deficit, cut the rate of growth in state government in half and privatized half of the state prisons.

Johnson also shifted state Medicaid to managed care (which led to better healthcare by creating a statewide healthcare network that previously did not exist and which saved money) and reduced state employees by over 1000, with no firings. During his term, New Mexico experienced the longest period without a tax increase in the state’s history.

While in office, Governor Johnson vetoed 750 bills (which is about equal to all the combined vetoes of the other 49 Governors in the country at the time). He is currently the Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative.

The Republican Liberty Caucus of Utah will be hosting a forum on the issue of immigration on Wednesday, October 20 in Salt Lake City.

As the issue has become more heated throughout the years, and even more so with the recent Arizona law, it is incumbent upon all Utahns to be conscious of various policies that the state might adopt. State legislators (and challengers), members of the media and other activists will be present to discuss the issue. There will be Q&A following the formal presentation.

All are encouraged to come, whatever your political persuasion, free of charge. Kindly contact Chris Lovato (clovato@gmail.com) or Julian Babbitt (jbabbitt@alumni.uci.edu, 760.832.4142) for more information.

Republican Gubernatorial nominee Rick Scott will be the keynote speaker at the Republican Liberty Caucus of Central East Florida’s Second Annual 2010 Constitution Day Dinner.

The dinner will occur at the Radisson Resort at the Port on Friday, September 24, 2010. Cocktail hour will be from 6 to 7pm and the program will begin at 7pm. Register today!

The Constitution Day Dinner serves as the Republican Liberty Caucus’ primary annual fundraising vehicle, giving the organization the funds it needs to support and promoting candidates that espouse the principles of free enterprise and Constitutionally limited government.

“This event will honor those who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to create our great nation,” RLCCEF founder Matt Nye said. “This country was founded on the principles of individual rights, limited government and free enterprise, so it is very appropriate that we will have entrepreneur and Republican Gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott as our keynote speaker.”

“Now, more than ever, Americans must become active in the political process — we want them to come out, get engaged, and learn how they can make a difference within both the Republican Party and their government,” Nye said. “Apathy is no longer an option; just as our forefathers stood against the redcoats so many years ago, Americans must once again stand up and fight if they want to preserve the greatest country known to man.”

Rick Scott has a narrow lead over Democrat Alex Sink. Scott’s running mate is State Rep. Jennifer Carroll, who would be Florida’s first African American Republican Lt. Governor.

We hope you’ll come join the Florida Republican nominee for Governor Rick Scott at the Republican Liberty Caucus of Central East Florida’s Second Annual 2010 Constitution Day Dinner on Friday.

Activists Robert Hornak, Daniel Peterson, and Raquel Okyay organized a New York City meeting of the Republican Liberty Caucus Tuesday night in Manhattan. The turnout was excellent, with around 45 activists in attendance — many of whom became members of the RLC for the first time.

Notable guests included New York City Council member (and RLC member) Dan Halloran, Co-Chair of the Kings County GOP David Storobin, former Libertarian Party leader Gary Greenberg, Ron Paul NYC Meetup organizer Bill Buran, Assembly candidate William Gouldman, former Peekskill City Council member Bill Schmidt, New York RLC Officers/Board members, and several other organizers of local GOP groups.

The goal of the event was to charter a New York City chapter of the RLC. A New York state chapter already exists. Guests were asked to join the RLC and were treated to free food and great company.

Thanks to the organizers of the event for making it a success. Below are some photos from the event.
