I continue to see two arguments. On the one side, RLC/Libertarian people will not vote for Mitt, thereby helping us get 4 more years of Obama. And by doing that, they hope to bring about, or at least accelerate, the demise of the Republican Party as it stands today. Of course they might just bring about the demise of America along with that.

On the other side is the argument presented above - basically vote for Mitt and keep trying to change the direction of the Party from within.

A good RLC type VP for Mitt would be a major benefit - Ron Paul would be great for 4 years and then the 2020 presidential candidate can step into the VP slot in '16, giving him/her a huge advantage.

I fully agree that Romney (as tofu) will have to listen to the majority of the people, at least Republicans and the Liberty Caucus, if he hopes to get reelected.

Obama will not have that handicap to be forced to listen to anyone and can be all he wants to be.

It seems many libertarians seem to think the Libertarian Party will rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes of "4 more years". I am inclined to disagree.

Long article. I believe in the RLC cause and hope the Republican party can become, well, much more libertarian. You've got a tough case to make for Mitt Romney and the kind of group-think necessary to swing Ron Paul and Gary Johnson libertarians over. 4 years of Mitt Romney will make it hard to look oneself in the mirror, even if they might be better years than under Obama. The numbers may be what they are, but voting your conscience still makes a good argument. If I were in RLC, I'd be writing this same kind of article to influence the masses, but for my one statistically insignificant vote I go with liberty because that vote is mine.

"political consultant Roger Stone is delusional for putting his faith in Gary Johnson"

"[Paul delegates] CAN force Ron Paul into the VP slot"

Pot kettle black?

I doubt many Paul RNC delegates are jumping into the LP pre-Tampa. So reaching out to the LPers, and asking them today to support Romney/Paul (instead of Johnson) is premature.

But, of course, you cannot wait until *after* Tampa to appeal to LPers, because after Tampa Paul won't be the VP nominee.

If, by some miracle, Paul is the VP nominee, then at that point it would be much easier to appeal to LPers. Hey, maybe even Johnson would drop out and endorse Romney/Paul!
