In fact, the new law may arguably be even better than gay marriage from a purely libertarian perspecitve, as it allows even heterosexual couples of any combination of genders to form a contractual civil union.

What's more it's unlikely that the bill will come anywhere near passing and it's opposed by many other RLC endorsees in the NH House.

Never mind. I did the research myself. As I should have guessed, you substantially misrepresented the situation. The legislation proposed by an RLC endorsee is not as you described. It does not interfere with legal contracts in any way. It preserves the contractual legality of gay marriages as civil unions and does nothing but change the terminology from referring to them as a "marriage" to referring to them as "civil unions" - no changes would be made to the rights of gay couples under the revised law.

James, there's nothing about that in this article. Could you direct me to your source? If you read our statement of principles we clearly would not support such a position, but sometimes endorsees fail to follow our principles for a variety of reasons. When that happens we do what we can to disavow their actions and hold them accountable.

So, a member of the RLC is sponsoring the reregulation of marriage in New Hampshire because government doesn't intrude into legal contracts enough. This is why I contend the RLC is a fraud. You are big government Republicans with a moralistic agenda.

[...] New Hampshire: Former Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire Chair Jim Forsythe was elected to the State Senate and State Rep. candidates Cameron DeJong and Andrew Manuse were elected to the State House. RLC Board member Paul Mirski was elected to the State House in Grafton as was former RLC Chair Dan McGuire in Merrimack. Longtime liberty activists Keith Murphy and Seth Cohn won election to the State House from Hillsborough and Merrimack, too. A full list of RLC victories from New Hampshire can be found here.
