After polling all of our state chapters and receiving their votes determined from the preferences of their members, on Wednesday the Republican Liberty Caucus national board held a special meeting at which we certified the decision of our members to endorse Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). The following press release was sent to national media in coordination with the Ron Paul campaign and we hope that our input will give Paul a little extra push going into the Iowa primary.
| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 30, 2011 CONTACT: Dave Nalle at 512-656-8011 or chairman@rlc.org Republican Liberty Caucus Endorses Ron Paul for PresidentPaul Nomination Will Send a Message from the Grassroots that the GOP is Back on Track with its Founding Principles!
“Ron Paul has been the one Congressman willing to consistently stand up against abuses of government power and for protecting the rights of citizens,” said RLC National Chairman Dave Nalle. “He has led opposition to the War on Drugs, REAL ID and the PATRIOT Act. Just in the past year he has joined us in fighting against unconstitutional military detention of civilians, government tracking of workers through e-verify and a federal takeover of the internet. These are issues which grassroots Republicans are concerned about, but the party establishment is not listening. Ron Paul is the only candidate who really speaks for the grassroots of the Republican Party.” “Paul has often been a lone vote against big government and big spending in the wilderness of the House of Representatives, but as president that lone vote would become a veto and stop government abuses dead in their tracks,” observed Earl Bandy, Chairman of the RLC of Colorado. “That alone is a great reason to put Ron Paul in the White House and give him that power.” A major goal of the Republican Liberty Caucus is to expand the number of Senators and Representatives who are truly dedicated to the principles of small government, free enterprise and individual liberty. We made a good start towards changing Congress in 2010 and with Ron Paul at the head of the Republican ticket and a great field of liberty candidates we can win even more seats in Congress in 2012. With leaders like Ron Paul this is the year when we can bring our government back to the values of the founders and put the liberty and prosperity of our citizens at the top of the national agenda rather than the bottom. — Founded in 1991, the Republican Liberty Caucus exists to promote individual liberty, limited government, and free enterprise within the Republican Party. To find out more, please visit www.rlc.org. This endorsement decision was the result of a vote of RLC state chapters nationwide and certified by the national board. This is the first time the RLC has endorsed a presidential candidate since 1996. |

AUSTIN, TX – The Republican Liberty Caucus national board is proud to endorse Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) for the Republican presidential nomination. In a field of candidates who show little genuine commitment to individual liberty or reducing the size of government, Rep. Paul stands out as a consistent champion of the values of the Republican Liberty Caucus; limited government, personal liberty and free enterprise.

Hmm… 2 days after Gary Johnson has announced his Libertarian bid. Guess that was the green light the RLC needed to officially give an endorsement to Ron Paul? He was been who the RLC has been endorsing from the get-go, so this comes as no surprise. Ron Paul is now officially the best the GOP has to offer, but when the establishment ensures he doesn’t get the nomination– which they will– Look below the two establishment parties (GOP and Dem) nominees and vote for the libertarian (which will be Gary Johnson)!
On December 30th, 2011 at 10:36 pm
Good point Onyxwolf X. Gary Johnson and his former NH staff endorsed Ron Paul. The head of the RLCNH has been an outspoken supporter of Ron Paul on a personal level and a former head of the RLCNH is a Co-Chair of the Ron Paul New Hampshire campaign so this isn’t exactly unexpected.
On December 30th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
It’s great to see this caucus make this announcement. They have their heads on straight! Ron Paul for President!

Great news…and a great choice! When you add it all up and weigh things out on the issues, Ron Paul is at the top of true conservatives. It is time to gear up and take on Obama, let’s all get behind Ron Paul for 2012!

I too support Dr. Ronald Paul in his run for the 2012 elections as future President of the United States of America. We the PEOPLE DEMAND a RESTORATION of our CONSTITUTION and the Preservation of our Constitutionally Protected Liberties!End the Error known as the “O”ne “B”ig “A”** “M”istake “A”merica has made. Socialism has been tried SEVERAL TIMES throughout history; and EVERY time it has FAILED. IT (SOCIALISM) HAS in fact “almost” suceeded several times throughout history, however ONLY when Liberties, Rights, Freedoms, and Faiths have been DICTATED by the Administration AGAINST the Citizens OF those nation which have tried it. The VIOLATION of our civil Liberties MUST NOT be IMPOSED via the Socialistic, Dictatorship Control of the Administration. As we (America) are currently headed… ALL of our Liberties are at risk due to the HOSTILE ATTACKS and ATTEMPTS to “CONTROL” our lives and Free Will via Muslim Socialist Mentallity.Ron Paul 2012! God Bless & Semper Fi!

On December 31st, 2011 at 3:34 am
He probably believes everything Fox/Faux News says about Ron Paul. Lol
On December 31st, 2011 at 3:36 am
No it wouldn’t have. Unlike Ron Paul, Gary Johnson was actually willing to take the time to speak to just about any RLC chapter which invited him. Johnson clearly demonstrated a greater amount of respect and appreciation towards the RLC than Paul. To endorse Paul prior to Johnson withdrawing from the GOP primary would have been disrespectful and as much as a slap in the face as him being shut out of most of the debates by the various networks. Both most y’all only seem to notice media mistreatment of Ron Paul as if no one else exists.
On December 31st, 2011 at 3:40 am
You obviously don’t know what the hell is going on.
1) The RLC doesn’t have any money, so no money for their “legitimate candidates” was ever lost.
2) Ron Paul wouldn’t waste his time trying to buy their endorsement anyway. He barely acknowledges it exists because it was founded by this guy: http://www.libertarianrepublican.net/
On December 31st, 2011 at 4:00 am
I am very happy for this. It was so heartening to see the thinking ahead for Ron’s “lone vote” to be a veto. I do not know WHAT some people in our country will feel with all of their new-found freedom, but I bet prosperity will come roaring back home! Thanks to all your members who believe in our Constitution. The people who are against it, are the ones who aren’t voting RON PAUL!

As much as I hated to lose Gary Johnson, it looks like he made the best decision for both parties; not only will his candidacy help the LP, but he has cleared things considerably for both parties.
On December 31st, 2011 at 5:00 am
What a garbled mess I made: sorry. The last part should read: not only will his candidacy help the LP, but he has cleared the way for Ron Paul in the GOP.
On December 31st, 2011 at 5:17 am
Thank you, Thank you! We may yet win our freedom!
On December 31st, 2011 at 6:17 am
One of the reasons why there were no presidential endorsements since 1996 is that the rules made it extremely difficult to pass an endorsement at that level. We relaxed those rules somewhat at our 2009 convention and this is the first time the new rules have applied.
That said, Ron Paul would have won the endorsement even under the old rules if I remember them correctly,
Dave
On December 31st, 2011 at 6:21 am
I don’t think I’m out of line to reveal that had Johnson remained in the race we likely would have made a dual endorsement for both Paul and Johnson, but it worked out that he dropped out right at the time when the 60-day balloting period for the state chapters wrapped up.
Dave
On December 31st, 2011 at 6:32 am
Thank you for standing up for your stated values, unlike so many in politics. Good choice.
On December 31st, 2011 at 6:32 am
The RLC was founded as much by Paul himself as it was by Dondero. Fact is that Dondero worked for Paul at the time and was basically his agent in founding the RLC, not that he’ll admit it. Of course that was a different time and a different Dondero – so different he even had a different name.
And the RLC does get by mostly on small donations from members. And our staff are all volunteers. I wish we had more money, but I don’t mind the quality of honesty which comes from being true grassroots.
Dave
On December 31st, 2011 at 6:33 am
Our bylaws made it impossible to make an endorsement any more quickly than we did.

2012 Is About Abolishing Slavery In America
We’re on the verge of abolishing slavery in America.
Ron Paul’s aim is to abolish the debt slavery & tax bondage of the FED/IRS Complex.
Over the last 100 years of slavery we have gradually lost most of what America set out to be, do and have.
We are not free. We are slaves.
Put aside all of the non-essential issues and focus on abolishing slavery.
Let’s start there.
Our first priority is to regain our liberty, peace and prosperity.
This is the narrative, the context for all of my campaign communications with others. It shuts down all of the nattering and competitiveness over the flavor-of-the-month candidates.
No other candidate is cognizant of, or focused on abolishing the crushing debt slavery and tax bondage as a social issue.
Without our liberty, nothing else matters.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

On December 31st, 2011 at 12:11 pm
No, you’re missing it by about 5 years. I founded the RLC in 1990, June to be exact. Ron didn’t come around RLC til about 1995, when he decided to run for congress on the GOP ticket. Took me a year at least to recruit Ron back to the GOP.
On December 31st, 2011 at 12:13 pm
BTW, our 2nd Chairman Roger MacBride had a great dislike for Ron Paul, and threatened to resign completely from the oganization if I invited Ron in. Had to smooth that one over too.
Roger, who was gay, thought Ron was an extreme homophobe.
On December 31st, 2011 at 2:03 pm
I appreciate that the RLC has come around to making this endorsement!
I’ve been trying to figure out how we “fix” the Republican party and I think the RLC is the way to do it.
On December 31st, 2011 at 3:30 pm
The RLC has plenty of hidden RINO’s and Progressives masquerading as Conservatives. Don’t be fooled, they have infiltrated almost every Liberty group.
On December 31st, 2011 at 4:06 pm
Thank you Dr.Ron Paul for all your hard work and knowledge. Also for fighting for our rights.FREEDOM AND LIBERTY!!!!!!!!!!!
On December 31st, 2011 at 4:35 pm
I should point out that you have since said that Paul’s personal uncomfortableness with homosexuals is something which has never influenced his actions or policies, correct?

On December 31st, 2011 at 9:53 pm
I’m a Republican former office holder and Hey is right – this is a black eye on this group and the GOP in general. Paul is a nut and is dangerous to our country.
On December 31st, 2011 at 10:02 pm
The only sensible thing would be handing the government back to the people. If you think handing drug legislation to the states’ to handle (not national legalization) would the only thing then you my friend need to “do some research”. It is always the people who say “do some research” who have done little to zero research.
On December 31st, 2011 at 10:24 pm
I see the Romney-Gingrich retards are coming out of the woodwork with their spurious and groundless characterizations of Ron Paul. All they really want is to sit in their rockers watching another voyeuristic war on the nightly TV and tell everyone what a patriot they are as they count the bodies. Damn them all to hell is my opinion. Go Ron Paul. You our our last chance to save this once great nation.
On January 1st, 2012 at 12:56 am
Glad to see at least one republican group supporting Ron Paul!! Now start exposing the Republican Security Council!
On January 1st, 2012 at 12:56 am
Anyone that calls Paul a nut or a crazy, clearly exhibits their lack of knowledge and understanding of our US Constitution. Crazy are the people like yourself who are to lazy to pick up a book and study our Founding Documents and the men who designed them.
On January 1st, 2012 at 1:01 am
whynott, Paul never said anything about legalizing pot or drugs. You get spoon fed from the media and the RINO’s, then run away with your tongue and sound like a herded sheep. Learn the constitution, then you’ll understand the Enumerated Powers, as well the 9th and 10th amendments. Then when you know that much about it, you’ll understand what Paul is talking about when he Say’s “It’s Not the Federal Governments job, It should be left up to the states”. Please learn, before it’s all to late.

The RLC had the chance to expand its tent, but instead chose to limit it. Pro-Israel people, Jews, gays, and people from the other groups Ron Paul insults are backing away from you. Good job, RLC.
On January 1st, 2012 at 7:28 am
The truth is that any organization has very little control over who joins it. However, I’ve found that while there is certainly diversity in the RLC there is still a strong general belief in limited government and growing liberty which brings us all together. And if a few are out of step they are enough of a minority that they just add a bit of spice to our debates rather than undermining our efforts.

the caucus is a group of political operatives who herd voters like sheep -
they control dialogue and perception then proceed to vote each other into key positions
only an organized group who know what they must do can go into a caucus and take power from the establishment hacks
On January 4th, 2012 at 5:48 pm
The republican party has its place, but they seriously need to be put back into it. Just like the democratic party has its place and seriously needs put back in it! I don’t think RP will win in the general election should the CCE (crony capitalist establishment) even let him get the nominee. The CCE has their hands so deep in the grand ole party’s leaders’ pockets that they aren’t just squeezing their wallets! Mitt Romney will be the GOP nominee. IF BY SOME MIRACLE I’m wrong and RP does get it, this BS about him being a racist is going to hurt him more than any conservative would like to admit. Like I said before, if RP was the nominee I may consider voting for him, but most likely I’m voting Gary Johnson.
On January 4th, 2012 at 5:52 pm
Just wanted to point out that the Gary Johnson endorsement you’re referencing was for his 2008 run. It was while Gary was still recovering from a broken vertebrae…
On January 4th, 2012 at 6:00 pm
Oh no he is, Hey wants the status-quo, which only RP and Gary Johnson threaten. Or he is seriously so naive that he is buying into the establishments bashing of him! Unfortunately I would say that naive represents far to great of the population of America for a Libertarian (or a Federalist in RP’s case) to win. I hope I’m wrong. I could cry…

I have so much pride and hope that “we the people” will be successful in having our voices heard with our votes to elect Congressman Dr. Ron Paul for the policy changes that we need to ensure we take back and hold onto our liberties our founders fought so hard to achieve. We are a country of and for peace and possibilities. I only read about your endorsement of Congressman Paul yesterday from examiner.com. The powers that be are determined to disregard and downplay those of us that stand with Dr. Paul. We must vote our conscious for what is right, and have representation that hold true to our rule of law, follow our constitution, and be serious about the oath they take. That is their responsibility when we choose to elect them. It is our responsibility to hold them accountable I will not change my position on this important matter during this very important time in our countries history. They work for us.
