Founded in 1991, the Republican Liberty Caucus works to advance the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty within the Republican Party.

I hope that most people reading this are very familiar with the abuses of process, fraud and violations of party rules which marred the Republican National Convention in Tampa. From the start of the committee meetings to the final gavel there was a pattern of behavior from the party leadership which made very clear that control of the party had been taken away from the body of members and the delegates representing them at the convention and seized by a small cadre acting on behalf of the Romney campaign and powerful special interests. They sacrificed the best interests of the party and the rights of party members to take control of the convention and restructure the party rules to reduce the influence of the grassroots and of state parties in the future.

The national media gave this story of what went on behind the scenes at the convention very little coverage, but you may have followed some of the developments here on this site. If you didn’t follow the story or wanted to know what was behind some of the protests you may have heard about, the best way to catch up on what went on is to read our archive or view the outstanding video reports from Ben Swann on WXIX in Cincinnati.

The result of these events is that a convention which should have been designed to build unity behind the presidential nominee instead helped to unify grassroots Republicans against the small group of opportunists who seem to have taken over the party. The events at the convention finally made many average Republicans realize that what was going on was not an attempt to stop Ron Paul supporters from being disruptive, but a much larger powergrab directed against all of the traditional constituencies of the party except for a small group of insiders. Republicans are starting to realize that after Tampa it is no longer our party, but one controlled by powerbrokers who plan to use the party and use us for their own ends.

In response it is essential that the base of the party reassert itself and that we demand a return to bottom-up organization where authority derives from the members through their county and state parties and is not imposed from above by the dictates of a small elite. The first step in doing that is to assert clearly that we do not accept what happened in Tampa, that we condemn the methods used and we reject the rule changes which resulted.

This petition directed at state party leadership and the Republican National Committee is based on the resolution proposed earlier this fall by a working group of RLC delegates and precinct chairs, but does not represent an official statement of the RLC or any of our chapters unless they choose to pass it as such – which many have done. This petition is your chance to personally show your support for reversing these rule changes and restoring popular control of the Republican Party.

This is a great chance for Republicans nationwide to make their objections to these rule changes and the abuses at the convention very clear in this petition which will be sent to all state parties and the Republican National Committee before it meets in January.

The views expressed here are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect official positions of the RLC.

    We need to demand that Reince Priebus be removed from his position. He is trying to get another 2 year term. He is the leader of the neo-cons you petition against. Priebus must be removed for fraud!

    Both the Republican and Democrat establishments are corrupt and un-democratic. Voters should boycott both halves of the ruling two-party cartel.

    I am a Republican Committeeman in Douglas County, MO. Unless you change your policy and revoke Rule 16 and other practices designed to shut out the grassroots I shall continue to be ashamed to be associated with the term “Republican” and will vote against anything and anyone you support. I’ll inform everyone I know of my position, including my fellow committee persons, and tell all my friends to withdraw their support, as well.

    I’ Agree to sign this petition,
    However it’s also important that the aspect of the Yea’s and Nay’s that where left up to the discernment and discretion of one person reading a teleprompter, is now also no longer acceptable as an affirmation of the voters voices. Now we are thousands of people rather than maybe hundreds that are being heard correctly or not. I think other voter rule’s procedures need to be looked at and then updated as well. We are not small colonies of people anymore and now accuracy must be reinstated by paper ballots and the voter counting must be performed here in the US by duly elected vote counters , By the people and for the people and they must be US citizens not corporations..?

    Priebus must go! He is not worthy of the position! He is short sighted and dishonorable and definitely not a leader. He and his ilk should be ashamed of their actions in Tampa. What a disgrace they are to the GOP.
    No wonder we lost the most important election since Goldwater-Johnson.

    To whom we are concerned with,

    You are in a small minority and although you believe yourselves to be more intelligent than the rest of us, the results of your capricious and self-serving actions speak volumes. You and yours do not represent myself, the majority of our party or the best interests of our country. You took us by surprise in Tampa but it would not be wise to underestimate the will of the majority to return to the true and noble Republican platform of of limited government, free markets and individual liberty.

    Revoke Rule 16 and other practices designed to reduce the influence of the grassroots and of state parties in the future.

  16. Connie David said:

    Not only would I like you to reverse all of the new rules and policies your enforced this past election that kept who the people really wanted on the ticket; I would like the RNC to go back to using the old symbol for the party. The elephant with the 3 stars right-side up NOT the 3 upside-down pentagram stars. Talk about blatant occult symbolism against the trinity.

    Why is the petition text designed to be unreadable?

  18. Vail Colo said:

    You DO realize that on-line petitions have no substance or validity. Strictly a ‘feel good’ exercise.

    This is why they lost the White House and why the voter turnout was low! The Delegates got our message and wanted to prevent Romney from making the First Ballot so we can have a Brokered Convention! We definitely would have had either Gingrich,Paul or any the other candidates facing Obama! Let them know that WE CHOOSE THE CANDIDATES NOT THEM and their days of pushing delegates around are through!

  20. Dave Nalle said:

    They have as much meaning as those they are sent to attach to them. If we get enough signatures then the recipients will take our issues seriously. If not then we deserve to be ignored.

    I can read it. It could use some more line spacing, I’ll admit.

    I am on the verge of quitting also and am a PCO. I have been robbed beaten and raped but none of those things were as much of a betrayal as what the brutes in the positions of power of the republican party did to all of us and to our US Constitution directly associated with their vilification of Ron Paul and the disenfranchisement in desperate measures to ensure the UN could shove their international laws of enslavement onto the American people. Shame on them and their bunkers too.

  23. Carole Lee said:

    It’s time the RNC was put in its place and the ‘good ole boy’ system eliminated. It’s ‘We the People’ who chose who we want to run – NOT them. I’m sick of their choices and their boycott/lockout of those that we have chosen!!
    On a side note:
    Jindal and Rubio are NOT eligible to be president and bypassing the constitution for them is placing another ILLEGAL in the WH. By bypassing the constitution, it would be saying that O was legal for the office. NO WAY, NO HOW!!

    Given 1) the ignorance of many Republicans;
    2) that not all state Republican parties ascribe to Virginia’s Republican Creed, as they should if the knew this country;
    3) that many VA Republicans act to equivocate our creed out of meaningful existence;
    it is little wonder that the Republican Party has been judged by God as being not yet fit to rule.
    It is way past time for the RP to wake up. Yet it may not be too late to save our VA and USA republics because with God anything is possible and all things may work to the upliftment of those in the RP who love God much more that their opinion of God or anything more idolatrous.
    This election’s dose of humiliation is justice as evidenced by the need for this petition.

    Given that large (yet declining) power of the neo-cons in the RP the neo-cons could have achieved what they desired without being rude about it. Hubris strikes again.

    That way, assuming they take heed to the petition, a Rand Paul or an Andrew Napolitano is not shut out from the get-go.

    I have been a life long Republican till this election,at this juncture i will not vote either republicrat or demopub again,yall are running the same candidate with different names.Every one let the repubs know that Romney was not their choice and you forced him on us.Now eat crow and try to explain away all the reasons you did not win,there is only one,you tried to force feed your constituents a candidate .Never another vote till you become conservative and anti bank rule.The banking community at this time owns both parties.If we are forced to the grass roots that you have tried to disenfranchise,the next party will be neither of the two.

  28. Ron Wiliams said:

    I was a lifelong Republican until I realized, that the Party, at controlling levels. I have received several calls from people who are ” surprised ” that the Republicans ( after the election ) are now turning their back on Fiscal Responsibility.
    The “fiscal cliff” is only a concern for those who give out, and recieve Pork. If the spending cuts go into effect, then the Republicans and Democrats will have less Pork to buy support with. As a side note, I’ve been listening to all the “reasons” why Romney lost despite the heavy marketing of him as a product. That is why he lost. Americans needs sincere,honest and trustworthy, leaders and Statesmen, not the packaged product of Some self serving Political Cronies.

    Don’t like what the RNC is doing, run for committee positions and work your way up the committees. I ran (1st time ever) and was elected to a committeeman position this past spring. We had enough new people elected to unseat the County Chair, and also took over several District Chairs.

    We can sign petitions, but we need to get control of the Party. Get involved. I’m tired of the big government Establishment RINO’s running the Party. Otherwise we will continue to have the lesser of two evils as “our” candidate.
